Imagine we could look into a mirror and we could make make changes to perfect whatever we felt was imperfect…
Studies show an average person looks at a mirror 5-8 times daily; for me, at least 5 times a day will do, my selfie camera is always on stand by lol… but why do we do this?
not just to admire ourselves but to check how we look, if anything may be amiss, we could fix it, as a woman, if my makeup is smudging, I could blend it in hahaha but basically we look into it to mostly adjust, fix, arrange…
As a deeply rooted Christian, am familiar with many metaphors used to describe the word of God like, double-edged sword, mirror(looking glass), milk and many more but my best is mirror; some people call the word of God the ‘mirror of our soul’ which I agree with.
Truly it is a mirror of our soul because the more you look at the word of God by hearing or reading, you see more of the what God has said about you, more of how he sees you spiritually; it helps you evaluate yourself continually from witin; you begin to fix yourself, you arrange things that may be amiss in your life, you begin to adjust your principles and your actions in line with how God sees you because he see you as the best, he sees you as as perfect as He has created to be.
This happens when you look at the word ‘continually’, some people just take a quick glance at themselves and they forget the image they saw. They do not take time to carefully study themselves as they read the word, it’s just like taking a hurried look in a mirror when you are getting ready for the day without accessing your self properly, you forget what you looked like, that is the exact description in
James 1:23-25Amplified Bible (AMP)
23 For if anyone only listens to the word [a]without obeying it, he is like a man who looks very carefully at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he immediately forgets [b]what he looked like. 25 But he who looks carefully into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and faithfully abides by it, not having become a [careless] listener who forgets but [c]an active doer [who obeys], he will be blessed and favored by God in what he does [in his life of obedience].
We need to continuously look at the mirror of God, i.e God’s word, so we become conscious of the way God sees us which is “perfect” even when we think we are imperfect; the more you look, the more perfect you become, spend time preening yourself spiritually
The consciousness of the word of God leads you to act it out in your everyday life, you start to reflect the exact things God has said about you in his word which is your mirror, and people begin to see this in your virtues you become a reflection of his word to the world. Gods word is the best mirror you could look at yourself through and I urge you to do this continuously.
